The Hermann farmers market vendors will continue to peddle their wares at the new indoor winter market. The winter market will be held at the Mckittrick Farmers Mercantile from 4:00 -6:00 p.m on Wed. April 3d.   The market held only once a month for now and is scheduled to coincide with the monthly Local Food Circle meeting.  Look for winter produce such as turnips, cabbage, beets, locally raised meats (chicken, pork, rabbit) eggs, baked goods, jams and jellies, bulk dry goods and more.       The Local Food Circle is an informal group of local food producers and consumers that get together once a month to share a meal and enrich their minds with educational presentations related to local foods. Guests this month will be Julie Kopp discussing hydroponic tower gardening and Sheri Hausman on the new Scenic Regional Library seed bank.  The Food Circle is free to attend  and all are welcome.
For more information on the winter market and or the Food Circle call

Our local foods circle is growing!   What is the local foods circle? ;  a supportive group of food producers and consumers interested in buying local foods.  Each month our group meets at the Mercantile for a potluck supper (email us at mckittrickmercantile@yahoo.com)  and an educational presentation.  The group consists of both local food producers providing meat, produce, baked goods and more, as well as consumers committed to purchasing local foods.    Our goal is to create a viable year round marketplace of local foods here in our area.  Too many local food producers are driving their products to the larger urban areas where they can get better prices and have a consistent market.   We are creating a market for them here.   We all eat food every day.  We too would like to know, personally, where our food is coming from. Everyone is welcome!
